Alliance can now nominate for the Justice Ministry

Alliance Party Council last night recommended that Leader David Ford can now nominate a candidate for Justice Minister. Party Council agreed that the two conditions which Alliance raised have now been met. Sinn Fein and the DUP have agreed on the community relations strategy and genuine progress has been made on agreeing a Justice Department policy programme.

Alliance Leader David Ford has welcomed news that the First and Deputy First Ministers have agreed a new community relations strategy for Northern Ireland. The Cohesion, Sharing and Integration strategy had been delayed for around two years and will now be circulated to other Ministers in the Executive.

Outrage at Randalstown Car Bomb

Alliance Leader David Ford MLA has expressed his outrage at those who left a bomb underneath a car on the Milltown Road in Randalstown. The bomb exploded at 06:30am on Friday, one man who is a police officer, was in the car at the time and has been taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

BBC must give Robinson information to appropriate authorities

David Ford speech in Assembly on bomb attack on Antrim police officer

The first item of business in the Assembly of the new year was to allow members to condemn the attack on Constable Peadar Heffron at Milltown, between Antrim and Randalstown. The Speaker granted David Ford's request that the bomb attack be discussed as the first item on the order paper.
