Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has praised the efforts of the police in stopping a car allegedly being driven erratically from Lisburn to Dunmurry this morning. Several police officers and a member of the public were injured in the incident.

Alliance Education spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has slammed the proposed independent 11-plus tests stating they will increase social exclusion and heap even more pressure on young people. A fortnight ago, more than 30 local grammar schools under the umbrella of the Association for Quality Education stated they would hold selection tests in maths and English across Northern Ireland.

Alliance MLA Anna Lo has attacked the thugs who created suspect devices which were found in Northern Ireland over the past 24 hours saying they cannot destabilize peace and progress. Suspect devices have been found in Invest NI Headquarters in Belfast city centre and on the Newry - Portadown railway line.

Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Seán Neeson MLA said that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's speech is a wake-up call to the Executive to act to end segregation. Mayor Bloomberg said in his 'people don't want to live in a society defined by division' and stated that a united community is necessary to attract investors. He spoke in the Great Hall at Parliament Buildings today as part of the US Investment Conference.

Alliance Antrim Councillor Alan Lawther has stated that the £5.7 million fine imposed on ITV by OFCOM over phone-in quizzes is not big enough to send out a strong message against the type of programmes that generate massive amounts of money at the expense of the public. Cllr Lawther has campaigned locally with considerable success for a long time against these quizzes.

Belfast Alliance Councillor Mervyn Jones has hailed news of the creation of 75 jobs locally by Wombat and the £70 million boost for Bombardier. He said that this news was even more significant given that fact that the US Investment Conference is taking place this week.

Alliance Leader David Ford has issued a statement on the eve of the first anniversary of the return of devolution to Stormont.

Ards Alliance Representative Kieran McCarthy MLA has condemned those who threw petrol bombs at changing rooms beside playing fields in Donaghadee. The facility which was attacked around 9pm last night is owned by Ards Council and is situated on Moat Street in the town.

Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed shock and disgust at speculation that Invest NI asked the hotel hosting the US Investment Conference to keep foreign staff away from delegates. The Culloden Hotel is hosting the US Investment Conference from Wednesday until Friday.

Alliance Youth Chair Stephen Martin and International Officer Chris Andrews have joined 170 other young leaders at a European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) Congress in Barcelona in demanding action on youth employment, suicide prevention and climate change amongst others.

East Antrim Alliance MLA Seán Neeson will today lead a delegation of concerned parents from St Comgall's College, Larne, to meet Education Minister Caitríona Ruane about the proposed closure of the school.

The world network of liberal and democratic parties will meet in Belfast, Northern Ireland from 15-17 May, 2008 to discuss the theme of "Our Shared Future" and the three sub-themes: "For a non-violent society", "For an inclusive society" and "For a society where we all can live". The meeting, which marks the world body's 55th Congress will, amongst other things, call for a reflection on the goals of the liberal network worldwide regarding such issues as terrorism, global migration, and climate change (among others).

Alliance Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has stated that people do not want a fudge in the Maze stadium decision. He said that Maze is currently the only show in town and that local people deserved the chance to have a world-class shared stadium. His comments come as it was announced that a decision would be made on the Maze stadium bid by the end of the month.

Strangford Alliance MLA Kieran McCarthy has expressed shock at news of a fire at a building firm near Kircubbin. The overnight fire took place at McGimpsey and Kane's situated a mile outside Kircubbin on the Rureagh Road.

Alliance Leader David Ford has stated that the IMC report has left significant questions unanswered, as people question IRA involvement in the cover up of the murder of Paul Quinn.
