Condemnation of pipe bomb attack in Antrim early on Sunday 12 December 20109.36.00am GMT Sun 12th Dec 2010
Following a pipe bomb attack on a house in the Milltown Road of Antrim which it is believed belongs to PUP member Ken Wilkinson, my Antrim Council colleagues, Cllr Neil Kelly and Cllr Oran Keenan have joined me in condemning this attack. No one was injured in the attack which happened about 3am today. I said: "These attacks must end, they are achieving nothing except to bring disruption and misery to the streets on Antrim. The local population is extremely worried where the next in this series of pipe bomb attacks is going to happen. "I am only glad that no one was injured in this attack. This must have been a very traumatic experience for those inside the house at the time of the attack." Cllr Neil Kelly said: "The people behind these attacks are just a small minority who do not represent the views of the vast majority of Antrim who all oppose this violence on our streets. Everybody else has moved on from the troubles, they should do the same. " Cllr Oran Keenan said: "If anybody has any information about this pipe bomb attack or any of the other previous attacks then they must contact the police. The people behind these attacks must be taken off our streets by the police and given severe punishments by the courts but it is only with the co-operation of the public will they be able to do that. "This is the second time that his house has been attacked this year. No one deserves this, everybody should be able to live without fear of coming under attack in your own home."
