Justice Minister David Ford was in Omagh today for the official opening of the town's new £15.5m police station.

As well as serving Omagh, the station is also the headquarters for policing in F District, which comprises Fermanagh, Omagh, Cookstown and Dungannon.

The Minister toured the facility along with Chief Constable Matt Baggott and Brian Rea, Acting Chairman of the Northern Ireland Policing Board.

Welcoming the official opening of the new station David Ford said: "This state of the art facility demonstrates the PSNI's commitment to delivering a professional and progressive community policing service. I have been impressed by what I have seen here today and enjoyed the opportunity to meet with officers to discuss first hand the issues facing them as they strive to deliver effective neighbourhood policing."
