Justice Minister David Ford has said the explosion in South Armagh was designed to kill.

He said: "Those who planted this bomb will be rightly condemned across society. "It once again underlines that there are those who refuse to accept the will of the vast majority of people of Ireland, North and South, who time and time again have voted for peace and rejected violence.

"The days of the bomb and the bullet are in the past and thankfully no-one was injured in this blast which was an attack on the entire community and designed to kill, maim and frighten."
