Minister of Justice David Ford

Minister of Justice David Ford today visited staff at NIACRO, where he praised the role which the voluntary sector plays in building safer communities

Speaking after the visit the Minister said: "I greatly value the work of NIACRO, which is one of our key partners in the criminal justice system. Providing early intervention programmes for young people, helping those leaving prison gain employment and providing help and support to prisoners' families are just some of the important services which NIACRO provides.

"It is through such services that people's lives are turned away from crime and they start to make a positive contribution to their communities - making Northern Ireland a safer place."

The Minister was welcomed to NIACRO's Belfast headquarters by Chief Executive Officer, Olwen Lyner.
