"There is a need to build confidence in the community by the Assembly parties agreeing the policies to be implemented by the Department of Justice."

Alliance Leader David Ford MLA has commented on the release of the letter from the Prime Minister Gordon Brown to OFMDFM on the budget proposals for the devolution of justice.

David Ford MLA said: "While I will take more time to examine in depth this financial deal, it does however seem to be a reasonable offer. This package should enable the outstanding issues to be resolved, though it is not overgenerous regarding the ongoing budget.

"For Alliance, there is a need to build confidence in the community by the Assembly parties agreeing the policies to be implemented by the Department of Justice."
