Car bomb is attack on all of Northern Ireland12.20.00pm GMT Fri 16th Oct 2009
Alliance Leader David Ford has said that the car bomb in East Belfast is an attack on the whole community. A woman was injured in the explosion at Kingsdale Park at around 7.30am this morning. David Ford said: "I am totally appalled at this despicable incident. Make no mistake, this was designed to be an attack on all of Northern Ireland. These evil elements want to create fear right across our society. "This bombing took place in a quiet residential area and the incident has rocked the whole community. The woman injured in this incident is in my thoughts and I hope she makes a swift recovery. "If the intended target was a police officer, all politicians must again say that those who serve the whole community should be able to live and work without fear and intimidation. I call on anyone with information on this bomb to contact police immediately." Local Alliance Councillor Judith Cochrane said: "Those who are trying to cause fear and instability cannot and must not be allowed to succeed. All politicians need to again stand united in the face of this threat."
