Alliance Leader David Ford has welcomed news that plans are afoot to build a new hospital for young people with mental health problems in Templepatrick.

The South Antrim MLA said: "It's a facility we need and I would hope that young people are provided with extra mental health services that are tailored to their needs as soon as possible.

"I welcome news that a facility is being planned. Clearly there are planning issues that need to be overcome but the fact that this initiative has been made public is significant.

"Northern Ireland is crying out for a dedicated service for young people and this is a very positive announcement."
