Ford congratulates South Antrim eateries on accolade4.15.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 11th Aug 2009
Alliance Leader David Ford has praised the five restaurants in his South Antrim constituency which have been included in 2009/2010 Taste of Ulster Guide. David Ford attended the launch of the Guide, and local establishments included are Ballyrobin Country House in Aldergrove, Barnabys in Ballyrobert, McGeown's Bar and Restaurant in Glenavy, Oregano Restaurant in Ballyrobert and the Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick. The South Antrim MLA said: "I strongly welcome the growth in the number of restaurants committed to using local produce. This is extremely positive news for not only our economy but also our environment too, with less fuel being used in the transportation of local produce due to reduced distances from suppliers. "Excellent hospitality is one of the keys to maximising the potential Northern Ireland holds in the tourism sector and I am pleased to see that South Antrim is well provided for in this field. "The inclusion of five eateries from South Antrim in the Guide is great news not only for the restaurants concerned, but for their suppliers and customers too."
