Alliance Leader David Ford has congratulated Cllr Alan Lawther after he was elected Deputy Mayor of Antrim at the Council's AGM today. He said that this news shows that across Northern Ireland Alliance was making a big impact, with Naomi Long becoming Lord Mayor of Belfast and Tony Hill being elected Mayor of North Down. David Ford said: "I am very pleased that Alan has been elected Deputy Mayor of Antrim. His election is testament to the excellent work Alan has carried out as a Councillor since his election and the very constructive role he has had as Chair of the Community Planning Committee over the last two years. "This is an historic moment for Alliance in Antrim as we have never before held this post. "Alan will be an extremely effective and positive representative for the Council and will reach out to everyone in the community during his year as Deputy Mayor. "Across Northern Ireland Alliance is making a big impact and this excellent news from Antrim comes alongside Naomi Long's elevation to Lord Mayor of Belfast and Tony Hill's election as Mayor of North Down."
