Ford condemns threat against Martin McGuinness

Alliance Leader David Ford MLA has condemned the threat against Martin McGuinness from dissident republicans and said such threats will merely strengthen political unity and strengthen people's resolve in protecting peace in Northern Ireland

David Ford said: "This threat is despicable. Those who wish to cause violence and disruption will never prevail.

"I condemn this threat against Martin McGuinness the same as I condemn threats against police officers and others who serve our community.

"Political leaders have shown great unity against violence and total determination to protect the peace we hold so dear. Potential threats will not disrupt progress - they only galvanise our resolve to stop dissident elements.

"I repeat my call for anyone with information on violent elements in our society to contact police and help them to stop these evil groups."
