David Ford MLA along with other party colleagues, has worn red to day to support National Heart Month which has been organised by the British Heart Foundation.

Alliance's Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA said: "Heart and circulatory disease is the UK's biggest killer. I am backing this campaign to raise awareness and make people think about lifestyle changes to improve their health.

"People do not necessarily need to take drastic steps to help their heart - often all they need to do is change their diet slightly or walk a bit more instead of using the car all the time.

"The statistics on heart disease are staggering. Over 90,000 people die in the UK every year as a result of it, and this is a killer that can be stopped if people take action in their own lives. "
