Ford welcomes extra Fire Service cover for Antrim12.00.00pm GMT Fri 17th Oct 2008
Alliance South Antrim MLA David Ford has welcomed the news that Antrim will now benefit from having full time fire fighters based at the fire station during the day. The new arrangements which come into force on Monday 20th October will replace the previous cover of just part time fire fighters. David Ford MLA said: "It is excellent news that Antrim will now benefit from having full-time fire service cover instead of just part-time retained cover. "I lobbied the Fire and Rescue Service and met the Chief Fire Officer, Colin Lammey, at Stormont to get additional cover for Antrim. I stressed the growth of Antrim town and the fact that full-time cover is now essential. "I am delighted that this campaign has now resulted in improved fire cover for Antrim and district."
