Ford comments on SDLP bid to recall the Assembly

4.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Aug 2008

Commenting on the SDLP's bid to recall the Assembly regarding the Executive's failure to meet, Alliance Leader David Ford said: "We entirely agree with SDLP about this dysfunctional Executive; however, we do not see benefit of recalling the Assembly potentially at significant expense to the taxpayer.

"If the Executive is not already ashamed enough at its failure to meet all summer, a recall of the Assembly will have no impact. Their inaction and arrogance is staggering.

"This crisis lies in the heart of the Executive, and the Assembly can do nothing to force them back to work."
