Ford hails news that future of Parkhall Post Office is secure

12.02.00pm GMT Mon 2nd Jun 2008

Alliance Leader David Ford has welcomed news that Parkhall Post Office in Antrim, which was under threat as part of a UK wide closure plan, has been saved by a campaign of which he was part.

The South Antrim MLA said: "This is brilliant news for the community in Parkhall. This Post Office is a thriving business and is one which provides a vital service to people in the area.

"It is the hub of the local community and I am glad to see that Post Office Ltd has finally come to their senses and decided to keep Parkhall open.

"We built a very strong case for saving the business and this victory vindicates our campaign. Council staff, Councillors and local MLAs ran a tight campaign to stop this closure and I am very pleased that the right result has been delivered."
