Ford congratulates Cannon on becoming Leader of the Progressive Democrats

Alliance Leader David Ford has congratulated Senator Ciaran Cannon on winning the Progressive Democrats' leadership contest.

David Ford said: "I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Ciaran Cannon on becoming leader of the Progressive Democrats.

"The Progressive Democrats have a difficult task ahead of them but they have been an important part of progressive politics in Ireland in recent times. They have always been very helpful and constructive as regards the peace process and building stronger north-south relations.

"I am look forward to working closely with Ciaran in the near future."
