Alliance Leader hails prospect of Aer Lingus jobs boost at International Airport12.00.00am GMT Tue 12th Jun 2007 Alliance Leader and South Antrim MLA David Ford has backed news that Aer Lingus is considering making Belfast International Airport its new UK base. If the move happens it could create up to 1,000 new jobs at the Aldergrove airport just outside Antrim. David Ford said: "I strongly welcome the potential for 1,000 new jobs which Aer Lingus would create if they made Belfast International Airport their UK base "This potential boost ties in very well with Genesis business park plans, which sees a new enterprise park sited at the airport The prospect of these new jobs and the arrival of Aer Lingus provides the potential for further development of transport infrastructure and the creation of a rail link to the International Airport at Aldergrove.
